AIRPORT PASSENGER TRANSIT WHEELCHAIR
The Melrose Passenger Transit Wheelchair transports wheelchair passengers from the check-in to the aircraft door. An assistant is required to push this wheelchair so it has a full width padded push bar for comfortable one or two hand pushing. Large anti tip bars extend behind the rear wheels and can be used as a kick bar – by placing your foot down on the bar to help tilt the wheelchair’s front castors up over curbs.
It is a fixed frame (non folding) chair that provides a longer life cycle because the frame has no moving parts. The frame is hand made from aircraft grade aluminium and is lightweight and rust resistant. Many of our components are made inhouse to ensure we maintain exact tolerances from the highest quality materials. All four wheels are solid, these provide less rolling resistance for easier pushing and maneuverability, they also require very little maintenance over their life.
A cushion is provided for skin protection as well as comfort, the skin on a disabled passenger can be susceptible to pressure areas, abrasion and bruising, even after a short period of time on a hard surface. Armrests provide support for passengers with poor or no balance, they also allow the passenger to pressure relief if required. Our armrests rotate back out of the way to allow egress from the side. A Hip Seat-belt provides support and extra security for passengers with poor or no balance. It also prevents the pelvis from sliding forward and rotating the passengers’ natal cleft on to the seat base.
Flame retardant soft trim materials can be used and can be certified to FAR23.853(a) and FAR25.853(a) App F Part l(a)1(ii) if required.
The chair can be finished in a large range of durable heat resistant powder-coat colours and your airline or airport logos printed onto the seat back.

FOLDING AISLE ONBOARD LIFT WHEELCHAIR
The Melrose Folding Aisle Onboard Lift Wheelchair has been specially designed to fit down narrow aircraft aisles and then raise the seat up above the aircraft seat armrest to allow easier access to disabled passengers.
The seat lift uses scissor lift technology to allow flight attendants to easily hoist the passenger from 480mm up to 660mm. The armrests, footplate and restraining straps all move with the seat making the transition easy and safe.
It will also fit into tight spaces like non-disabled public toilets, bus aisles, caravans and anywhere else a standard wheelchair might not fit. This model folds down to only 350mm height, 745mm length and 390mm wide so it can be stored in tight spaces.
A single pin locks the legs into place as you unfold it, while two pins lock the back into place. Armrests fold down, these can help to provide lateral trunk support as well as the chest strap.

MELROSE FOLDING ONBOARD WHEELCHAIR WITH LEG AND CHEST STRAPS
The Melrose Folding Onboard Aisle Wheelchair has been specially designed to fit down narrow passages and then folded up and stored.
It will fit into tight spaces like non-disabled public toilets, aircraft aisles, bus aisles, caravans and anywhere else your day wheelchair might not fit. This model folds down to only 230mm in height and 380mm wide so you can store it under the bed or in the corner of a wardrobe.
Two catches lock the chair into place as you unfold it, while two pins lock the push handle into place. Armrests fold down, these can help to provide lateral trunk support as well as the chest strap.

AISLE WHEELCHAIR WITH HIP, LEG AND CHEST STRAPS
The Melrose Aisle Wheelchair has been specially designed to fit down narrow passages while providing maximum manoeuvrability.
It can be used to fit into tight spaces like non-disabled public toilets and caravans as well as aircraft aisles and can be completely custom built to the individuals or companies specifications.
This model has two separate braking systems; one assistant operated foot brake for use while transferring and another assistant operated lever brake for use while negotiating gradients.

MELROSE BEACH WHEELCHAIR
The Melrose beach wheelchair has been developed to enable disabled access to the beach and water.
Large tyres provide a low-pressure footprint allowing the Melrose beach wheelchair to float over the softest sand or pebble beaches to reach the water.
Fabricated from aluminium with a high impact nylon mesh for the upholstery, the Melrose beach wheelchair is light enough to toss in the back of the car. The wheels can be easily removed and the back folds down so storage is no problem.

The custom built Toilet / Shower chairs are fabricated after careful consultation with the client. The frame is manufactured from aluminium with all attachments and fittings in either aluminium or stainless steel to last longer in the bathroom environment.
The seat cushion can be rotated so the opening can face either the left, right or rear allowing much greater access. They fold easily while the wheels and armrests pop off making them easy to transport. They can also be disassembled to give them a really good clean.
A carry bag can be made to store or transport the wheelchair around with you (castors can be put on the bag for easy transportation)

CHILDRENS GROWABLE FRAME ADJUSTABLE POSITION WHEELCHAIR
The Melrose Kea is a fully adjustable fixed frame wheelchair for children. It has the ability to “grow” the seat width and length as the child develops. This makes it an extremely versatile wheelchair and a great starting point for young ones as they start on their journey towards independent mobility.
Built without the lower rails the frame uses over 50% less aluminium than a Stallion Junior, we have also built the adjustable footplate and adjustable castor pivots as a single unit to save further weight.
